Licensed Radiographer - Resources
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO APPLICANTS FOR TRANSITIONAL CREDENTIALS WHO MET REQUIREMENTS BEFORE MARCH 1, 2012.
Applications under TRANSITIONAL licensing must be received by the Department before March 1, 2012. Beginning March 1, 2012, a credential is required for the practice of radiography as a radiographer or Limited X-ray Machine Operator (LXMO).
Due to the high volume of applications received during the TRANSITIONAL credentialing period, the Department may be unable to process all applications for transitional licensure by the March 1, 2012 deadline. The Department has determined, therefore, that the anticipated delay in credential processing should not impact applicants who have completed their applications and are qualified for licensure.
· Applicants for TRANSITIONAL credentialing who have paid the fee, submitted their complete application and meet qualifications for a credential MAY continue to work while the final processing of that application takes place.
· Beginning March 1, 2012, applicants for transitional credentialing must comply with the Board’s rules, orders and statutes as well as professional standards. Failure to do so could result in disciplinary action.
· Applicants for TRANSITIONAL credentialing who have not yet received confirmation of their credential and who have felony convictions or were disciplined in other jurisdictions or by other regulatory bodies should contact the Department at their earliest convenience.
· Applicants for TRANSITIONAL LXMO permits who are authorized to take the ARRT-approved examination after March 1, 2012, MUST pass the examination. If an applicant receives notice that they have not passed the examination, they MUST stop practicing immediately upon receipt of such notice.
Below are examples of how the above information applies to certain applicants.
Applicants for licensure as TRANSITIONAL radiographers who, before March 1, 2012, have submitted a complete application, achieved a passing score on the ARRT-approved Wisconsin examination for radiography technologists and who have practiced at least three of the five years immediately preceding the date of application may continue to practice until the Board issues or denies the application for a license to practice radiography.
Applicants for a LXMO permit who, before March 1, 2012, have submitted a complete application, achieved a passing score on the ARRT-approved Wisconsin examination for LXMOs and who have practiced at least three of the five years immediately preceding the date of application may continue to practice until the Board issues or denies the permit application.
MATC Equivalency Applicants for a LXMO permit who, before March 1, 2012, have not practiced at least three of the five years immediately preceding the date of application, but who have submitted a complete application, successfully passed the equivalence examination offered by MATC and who have done everything necessary to take the ARRT-approved Wisconsin examination for LXMOs may continue to practice until the Board issues or denies the application for a permit. Applicants will need to successfully complete the ARRT-Approved Wisconsin examination for LXMOs.
Applicants MUST take the ARRT-approved Wisconsin examination as soon as possible after they are approved to take the examination. A passing score is required. If an applicant receives notice that they did not pass the ARRT-approved examination, the LXMO permit will be vacated and the applicant MUST stop practicing immediately upon receipt of such notice.
Applicants who submit an application on March 1, 2012 or later may not practice until the Board issues the license or permit.
