Creating Chapters within the WSRT
The Benefits for the Profession and the Individual
In the next few weeks,
radiology professionals in Wisconsin will be receiving a post card in the mail inviting them to consider the creation of Modality “Chapters” within the state society.
What is a Chapter?
A Chapter is a group of registered Radiology professionals that practice in the same modality. They come together to discuss how to improve and advance professional practice in that specific modality. Chapters in specific modalities are recognized at the National level (ASRT), and representative have a vote in the House of Delegates each year.
How is a Chapter Structured?
A state Chapter would be structured similarly to the ASRT structure for National Chapters. This means the members of each chapter would have to be active, voting members of the WSRT, certified in the modality they work in, and currently holding a position in that modality. There would need to be at least 1 leader within each chapter.
How is the State Chapter connected to the ASRT?
Once a Chapter is created in the state, the leader would contact the representative of the National Chapter. The National representative would provide direction and guidance. All members of the Chapter would have access to the “chat line” set up by the ASRT to stay connected with the National representative of that Chapter and Chapter members from other states. The sharing of ideas and information will become Nation wide!
A member of the state Chapter may want to run for National Chapter delegate. This would allow that individual to be involved and vote in the House of Delegates annually. They would not only represent the state of Wisconsin but every state that has a Chapter in that modality. To run for this office, a person would have to be an active member of the ASRT and the WSRT for 2 years prior to nomination for this position.
What Modalities have recognized Chapters in the ASRT?
Bone Densitometry Nuclear Medicine
Cardiovascular-interventional technology Quality Management
Computed Tomography Radiation Therapy
Education Radiology
Magnetic Resonance Sonography
Mammography
Management
Medical Dosimetry
Military
